Help with Saturday duties! 

This role stocks the front of house floor as we shop for home delivery. 

Provides support for floor staff in back of house, lots of time to chat and be a kind of 'floating' help for the two home delivery programs. Reports to front of house floor manager for duties on the day, just ask! 

This position is generally stocking or doing back of house sorting or other work, but can change depending what is the priority, sometimes shopping, sometimes packaging up produce, or helping with box building! 

This shift helps pack boxes for our Amazon home delivery boxes. We partner with United Way King County and delivery drivers to deliver over a hundred families groceries every Saturday.

You will pack identical boxes in the warehouse.

Includes: Sorting pallets of donations, repackaging bulk items, receiving donations, delivering restock items to door for front of house re-stockers to put on shelves, cardboard management, bagging up produce like apples, potatoes and onions, clean-up of warehouse, sanitizing work spaces, double bagging paper bags.

This shift may also help support Door Dash box building. This program involves us building uniform boxes to fulfill orders from our partners at United Way (who then uses the Door Dash Delivery App for deliveries). 

The last hour or so of this shift also help stock and clean get the food bank ready for Monday open as best as we can! 

On call home delivery driver for Saturday!

**Ability to drive your own vehicle is required for this position**

This role helps support the home delivery coordinator within the food bank, but is available to drive when we have a regular driver call out or no show. Then you will be tapped in to take a delivery route! (usually no more than 1 route that takes a little over an hour)  

You will help with tasks like shopping, double bag bags, (that are used in our store for distribution) and be on-call for a delivery route that might be left behind by a regular driver calling out. 

When you come in please introduce yourself to the home delivery program coordinator and they will show you to the room where you will be working in. 

This is a great position for someone looking to get community service hours.

You must have a vehicle and be ok to drive for this role! 

Our home delivery program serves hundreds of home bound food insecure folks each week.

This shift includes some morning prep to get the store ready for open! Your front of house floor manager will help you figure out what needs to be done. From 8am-9am we will be stocking and organizing as well as some other tasks to get us in a good place to open our doors. The food bank then opens to customers at 9am and we begin shopping!

This role works independently with floor manager's direction on keeping the food bank clean! 

Tasks include sweeping, sanitizing commonly touched surfaces, doing laundry, washing windows, picking up trash out front, all the lovely tasks to keep the food bank looking good, safe and clean! 

You will join circle up at the begining of the shift with the rest of the volunteers, and let floor managers know that you are signed up in the cleaning role. 

Floor mangers will support you during the shift, you will be working independently, but can check in at any time with floor managers for direction.

Cleaning Hero 

Core Duties 

Pick up trash on our block 

Grab some gloves from the volunteer hub and a trash bag from under the volunteer sign 

Start by picking up all trash in front of the food bank/café 

Then loop the block from 50th to 53rd on both sides of the street and pick up any trash that you see 

We have a sharps container behind the front desk if you find any needles (always be careful when picking them up and alert staff if you do not know how to do so safely) 

Alert staff if there are any biohazards that need special cleaning (like bodily fluids) 

Use a trash bag or sanitizer from the sink in warehouse to scoop up or wash away dog poop on the sidewalk 

Tidy the coffee cart 

Switch to fresh gloves when handling food surfaces 

Wipe down coffee table and equipment with rag from hub and sanitizer in warehouse 

Tidy items on the coffee table 

Empty trash bin and put in a new trash bag 

Secondary Duties 

Help clean the shopping area 

Compost things like corn husks and onion skins, any moldy perishables you see, and ready to eat foods out of date (check and remove things with meat if more than 2 days past date/things without meat if more than 5 days past date) 

Sweep/mop spills (placing wet floor sign if needed) using brooms and mops by the doors to the warehouse and pick up any dropped produce 

Wipe down tables and shelves and often touched surfaces like basket and cart handles with sanitizer

Empty trash/recycling/compost to dumpsters in garage (grey/big blue/brown)

On the day you will decide which role to preform: 

Check in volunteer - takes orders and records those served, this is much like the 'greeter' position in the food bank 

Cook/Food Prep volunteer- prepares food and serves 

Cleanup volunteer- clean up during and after shift 

You will be working with the Cafe manager to keep the cafe open to serve customers during your shift! 

***There is currently no training you need to do before hand to sign up for these shifts. Go ahead and sign up and when you arrive for your first shift, head to the cafe. 

Ask for the staff member in charge, and they will train you on the spot and get you settled into your shift****

Volunteers on this shift will support the sorting and loading of various groceries into the Food Bank van which is located at the U District Food Bank. These groceries are then transported to our North Seattle mobile food pantry for distribution.

The efficiency of the van getting loaded really sets the pantry distribution up for success. Thanks for helping with it!

You will join the beginning of the volunteer shift with a circle up with rest of the crew and then floor mangers will get you to the right spot.

Labeling bags for our home delivery program! This important role labels the bags for the home delivery program that serves our home bound and elderly clients who are unable to come in to the food bank. This shift is office related and off the food bank floor.

We are looking for some extra helping hands to help with set up for our auction this year. (Our biggest fundraiser of the year!) 

There is some lifting with this gig, and stairs to navigate, but there are other duties that can be non lifting. 

The jobs we will be needing help with are:

-Hanging signs, decorations.

-Organizing materials

-Setting up tables and other silent auction materials 

-Arranging welcome tables and sign in 

-Assisting development staff with whatever is needed on the day to get ready! 

This event is at St. Demetrius church at 2100 Boyer Avenue East

Parking is available on site at the church

There are a lot of stairs at the church and there is some heavier lifting of chairs and tables. 

You will be working directly with Paul and Christine, the UDFB development team to get the hall ready for the UDFB auction happening the evening of the 19th.

We are looking for some extra hands to help with set up for our auction. (our biggest fundraiser of the year!) 

This shift will be helping during the auction with event duties as needed The jobs we will be needing help with are:

Check in help
Silent auction table/bid sheet attendants
Wine grab attendants
Live auction spotter
Live auction recorders
Check out helpers
There will be an event coordinator on site with Stokes Auction Group.

You will want to check in with the event night coordinator, and this person will get you in a position listed above that is best suited to help.
