Volunteer: Home Delivery Route 9:00AM Wednesday (98105/98115/98103)

This route goes to houses and apartments in 98103, 98105, and 98115. This is a time-sensitive route, as some of the customers have standing appointments shortly after the delivery time. Please arrive at the food bank at 9:00 am, and pull into the garage. If the garage is currently occupied, you can park on the street and come inside. We will find someone to help you wheel the rack full of groceries out to your car to help load. With about 7 households, it should take about 1- 1.5  hours total. We have dash flyers that explain that you are with the food bank, please ask to grab one if you don't have one!

When you come to the food bank, there will be a black or silver rolling rack full of your route's groceries, along with a paper taped to the front of the rack with each stop listed in order.

If you cannot get in the building when delivering, you can leave the food in an out-of-sight spot as close to their front door as you can. Text or call the customer to let them know where it is. Leaving the bags at the door, knocking loudly, and saying "food delivery!" is the preferred way to deliver. If a customer asks for help with bags, only do so to your comfort level.

This role is a great way to get out in the community and learn more about your neighbors and the different buildings that you may never get to see.

Thank you! This service is so helpful to customers who may be homebound or otherwise unable to access our on-site services. For some folks, it is the only interaction they have with others during the week.

This route goes to one building in Capitol Hill (98102). Please arrive at the food bank at 11:45 am, and pull into the garage. If the garage is currently occupied, you can park on the street and come inside. We will find someone to help you wheel the rack full of groceries out to your car to help load. With about 13 households, it should take about 2 hours total. We have dash flyers that explain that you are with the food bank, please ask to grab one if you don't have one!

When you come to the food bank, there will be a silver rolling rack full of your route's groceries, along with a paper taped to the front of the rack with each stop listed in order.

Make sure to grab a collapsible wagon for this one! A larger car like an SUV or a good sized hatchback is also best for this route.

Volunteer: Home Delivery Route 9:45 AM Saturday (Denny Terrace 98102)

This route goes to one building in Capitol Hill (98102). Please arrive at the food bank at 9:45 am, and pull into the garage. If the garage is currently occupied, you can park on the street and come inside. We will find someone to help you wheel the rack full of groceries out to your car to help load. With about 5 households, it should take about 1 hour total. We have dash flyers that explain that you are with the food bank, please ask to grab one if you don't have one!

When you come to the food bank, there will be a silver rolling rack full of your route's groceries, along with a paper taped to the front of the rack with each stop listed in order.

Make sure to grab a collapsible wagon for this one! A larger car like an SUV or a good sized hatchback is also best for this route.

Volunteer: Magnuson Pantry Distribution

Magnuson Park Community Food Pantry is a collaboration with Solid Ground, University Family YMCA, and Mercy Housing Northwest. Our Magnuson pantry serves residents of Mercy and Santos and Solid ground housing as well as nearby community members.

The Magnuson Park neighborhood was designated a food desert and was an area of concern for hunger due to the limited pubic transportation options and lack of surrounding grocery stores. To try and combat the food insecurity in this area, we opened a pantry with a small variety of food including some fresh produce.

We began operations in August of 2019 and serve about 110 households each week.

Located in the community room of Mercy Magnuson place, (7101 62ND AVE NE), the pantry is open to Mercy housing and Solid Ground residents at Sand Point and our nearby neighbors, and runs every Wednesday from 11:00 AM- 2:00PM

Volunteers will help to pack bags at tables for customers that come in and chose what they would like from our stock for the day. Some unloading of the truck before hand and setting up the space starts at 10:00 AM as well as some clean up from 2:00pm- 2:30pm

Ability to lift 20-30 pound and be on your feet for several hours is helpful.

Thank you!
