Opportunities From: University District Food Bank

Volunteer: Home Delivery Route 9:00AM Wednesday (98105/98115/98103)

This route goes to houses and apartments in 98103, 98105, and 98115. This is a time-sensitive route, as some of the customers have standing appointments shortly after the delivery time. Please arrive at the food bank at 9:00 am, and pull into the garage. If the garage is currently occupied, you can park on the street and come inside. We will find someone to help you wheel the rack full of groceries out to your car to help load. With about 7 households, it should take about 1- 1.5  hours total. We have dash flyers that explain that you are with the food bank, please ask to grab one if you don't have one!

When you come to the food bank, there will be a black or silver rolling rack full of your route's groceries, along with a paper taped to the front of the rack with each stop listed in order.

If you cannot get in the building when delivering, you can leave the food in an out-of-sight spot as close to their front door as you can. Text or call the customer to let them know where it is. Leaving the bags at the door, knocking loudly, and saying "food delivery!" is the preferred way to deliver. If a customer asks for help with bags, only do so to your comfort level.

This role is a great way to get out in the community and learn more about your neighbors and the different buildings that you may never get to see.

Thank you! This service is so helpful to customers who may be homebound or otherwise unable to access our on-site services. For some folks, it is the only interaction they have with others during the week.

When you come to the food bank, there will be a silver rolling rack full of your route's groceries, along with a paper taped to the front of the rack with each stop listed in order.
